not just good, but better

So I've been feeling empty inside lately as if I am not accomplishing anything good with my life and I couldn't figure out why that was.  I am going to work, doing my best to keep my apartment clean, but I still felt like something needed to change.   I decided to pray about it and I waited for an answer.

I went to my cousin's ward in Fillmore and I swear the lady giving the talk was speaking right to me.  I realized that I needed to replace the good things I was doing for better things that would uplift me more.

I talked with Travis the whole way home about making goals and the changes that I needed to make.  I realized that I got distracted with TV (which isn't bad, but it isn't better), so my goal was no TV for a week and to replace it with doing better things such as dishes, laundry, going on walks with Lucy, and other productive things.  I couldn't believe the change I felt in just one week!  I also couldn't believe how much happier I felt.

I could feel the Spirit with me more frequently than before. I really think it was the TV watching.  There are good shows on TV, but there is a lot of bad things in those good shows and not having that in my home for a week really  made a difference.  I heard a quote somewhere that the adversary uses television and computers to get into your home and break apart families.  Doing this experiment really showed me how much control the adversary has over the media and I decided that I needed to change that.  I want my family safe and the Spirit in my home.  I need that protection.

So, from now on, it is just an hour or two of TV for me and then I get to go on a walk with Lucy, cook dinner, and clean up my apartment.  I feel so much happier and I am so grateful for this gospel that it can bring so much joy into our lives when we are doing the better things in life.

Are you still doing this? Sorry I never comment, I just forget you have a blog since it doesn't show up on my feed because it's private.

Yep, we're still posting. Not terribly often, but a couple times a month, I think.
