All I have to say is that I love President Uchtdorf's talk to the Relief Society women! If you haven't read it, here is the link. Read it! I listened to his talk and felt all my worries and sadnesses wash away. He was truely inspired to say what he did. I know there are other women out there feeling lonely or down at times, but his words touched me. I needed to hear every single word that came out of his mouth. I was uplifted and it makes me even more excited to watch conference. I love this gospel! It is so true! I feel it everytime I hear our great leaders speak.
That is all I have to say about that.

not just good, but better
So I've been feeling empty inside lately as if I am not accomplishing anything good with my life and I couldn't figure out why that was. I am going to work, doing my best to keep my apartment clean, but I still felt like something needed to change. I decided to pray about it and I waited for an answer.
I went to my cousin's ward in Fillmore and I swear the lady giving the talk was speaking right to me. I realized that I needed to replace the good things I was doing for better things that would uplift me more.
I talked with Travis the whole way home about making goals and the changes that I needed to make. I realized that I got distracted with TV (which isn't bad, but it isn't better), so my goal was no TV for a week and to replace it with doing better things such as dishes, laundry, going on walks with Lucy, and other productive things. I couldn't believe the change I felt in just one week! I also couldn't believe how much happier I felt.
I could feel the Spirit with me more frequently than before. I really think it was the TV watching. There are good shows on TV, but there is a lot of bad things in those good shows and not having that in my home for a week really made a difference. I heard a quote somewhere that the adversary uses television and computers to get into your home and break apart families. Doing this experiment really showed me how much control the adversary has over the media and I decided that I needed to change that. I want my family safe and the Spirit in my home. I need that protection.
So, from now on, it is just an hour or two of TV for me and then I get to go on a walk with Lucy, cook dinner, and clean up my apartment. I feel so much happier and I am so grateful for this gospel that it can bring so much joy into our lives when we are doing the better things in life.

soccer game
I went to my niece's soccer game tonight and she is so cute! She was wearing her little uniform and running around trying to kick the ball and she actually kicked it three times. She was so excited! It was really nice to sit with my sister and watch as they played soccer. The weather was perfect and it was really relaxing to just sit there with family. I like this whole not working full time thing. I actually get to spend time with my family and do fun things. I will post some of the pictures of the amazing game.

I love the photo of Emma throwing the ball back into the game. There is a kid flinching, another so excited, and another kid that looks terrified. You gotta love kid's soccer games!

Here is Emma with her dad (the coach) after the game with her goodies. I love this picture!

arts festival
I went to Fillmore for their arts festival and I had so much fun! I didn't sell much, but I love seeing family and being in that small town! I was even tempted to move there.
I sold a few flower rings and a couple of clips. I think I will set up an Etsy account and try selling the rest there. All of the money that I earned will go into my new ring jar.
While I was there, I found a nice ring substitute for me until I can get the real one. With my sister Bailee's help, I found an awesome ring for 94 cents. It is beautiful for a 94 cent ring. I was blown away at how nice it looks.
It was nice to get away and to share my crafts with others.

Robyn and Lucy doing dishes together. There was water everywhere, but you gotta teach 'em to work at an early age!

a great birthday
So today is my birthday and it has been a very nice day. Travis and I got work off, but Travis still had his morning and night classes to go to, so we made the best of the time that we had together. This morning Lucy let me sleep in till 9:00. That was very nice of her. I got her ready and fed and then myself and then we went on a walk around our neighborhood. I really miss not going on walks as often as I used to. It started to sprinkle. It was a great walk!
When we got home, Travis got home shortly after us. He gave me my last presents (which were amazing) and then we decided to go eat lunch at Golden Coral. We were in line to pay and the man behind us told the employee that he wanted to pay for us. I was so shocked. He didn't even know it was my birthday! That was so kind of him to do that and I was touched. It made me want to do something just as amazing for someone else. That was a great birthday surprise!
We had a wonderful time stuffing ourselves at Golden Coral and when we couldn't eat anymore, we went home and relaxed before Travis had to go to his night class.
It has been a great birthday!

art's festival
Every year my family goes to an art's festival and we sell the crafts that we've made. This year I've made a lot of random crafts in hopes that I will sell a lot of things. If I don't, then I will have to sell them somewhere else (if anyone is interested...). I've had a lot of fun making all the things that I've made and it has given me more ideas for bigger crafts that I will need a lot more time to complete. I will put pictures of a few of my favorites that I will be selling.
This is my first attempt at making an apron. |
Here is my second apron. |
These are small push pin boards. Pictures or messages can be pinned or slid onto them. I love this idea! |
These are the large push pin boards. I put three pins on each board. Either the flowers or the buttons. |
These are paper flower hair clips. They were so much fun to make! I love that they are made out of paper! |
Here are a different kind of paper flower hair clip. |
These are Yoyo flower hair clips. My next project is to make an afghan out of them. |
These are flower rings made out of ric-rac. I fell in love with them the first time I saw them! |
That is all for now. I will try and find time to make more and share with you.
