week three with my hair

My hair is starting to settle down more and obey me when I tell it to go a certain way.  I'm still waiting for my bangs to grow out a little more, but it's good and I'm liking experimenting with it and trying new hair styles.

trick or treating at SLCC

I went with my younger sister to Salt Lake Community College for their let's-get-excited-about-school-starting-up-for-sophomores-fair and had so much fun!  It brought back good memories of when I went there and made me want to go back and finish up school.  I need to wait till Travis is done with school, but it was good to feel that excitement about school again.

They had people from each class/major sitting behind tables waiting for newcomers to come up and ask them questions about their major. We were supposed to be there to support my sister, but I ended up talking to some people about classes that I would be interested in taking.

The people behind the desks coaxed others to come over to them by having big bowls of candy sitting in the middle of their table, and I freely accepted their offerings.  I brought Lucy with me and I was worried that she would get restless and ornery, but I was completely wrong!  One of the guys at a table gave her a little bag and filled it up with some of his candy, and at every table we passed, people would laugh and put more candy in her bag.  She had so much fun!  I was laughing so hard!  She also got free pizza, cookies, cotton candy, popcorn, and I got a free pen!  It was amazing!  I think that after this experience, Lucy is going to love college.  I was very impressed and wanted to go back.

Maybe that is sad that I had so much fun at a college fair, but I really had a lot of fun!  Thank you SLCC for giving me and my daughter a fun and memorable night!

To top it off, I got to visit my brother-in-law (he works there) and that was a fun spontaneous surprise.

What a GREAT night!

the last box

We have officially unpacked our very last box!  Wahoo! We had some boxed food in our last box and kept it on the floor in the corner of our kitchen.  We finally bought a storage shelf and now the box is no more. Lucy even helped us put the shelf together. It feels good being able to find more space for things and therfore creating more space in cupboards for other things.  Organization is good.

Our empty box.

today's first-world problem

It took FOREVER to remove all the tags and stickers from the new clothes I bought today!

shopping

We got our tax return back and decided to buy some things that we needed, like clothes and shoes and things like that.  We decided that Lucy is growing and needs more pants, jammie-jams, dresses, shoes, and all those good things.  I had so much fun shopping for her.  I love going shopping for dresses and little shoes.  It could have been madness if I would have let myself get out of control.  That is why Travis was there to help stop me from buying almost everything in the Toddler's section.  I thought I would share some of the things we bought her.  I think she'll really like wearing them and she'll look pretty cute in them, too.

new haircut

So I think I've gone crazy, but I want to chop off my hair.  I've always wanted my hair really short, like a boy-haircut-short and I am finally going to do it.  I set up the appointment and I'm going tomorrow.  I'm going to walk in, sit down, cover my eyes, and say, "Just do it!" Travis is going with me to be my moral support and to capture every moment with his camera.  I really hope I don't end up looking like a boy, but I've made up my mind and hair does grow back...right?

Here are some befores:

Here is the picture I've chosen for my haircut:

I will post more pictures tomorrow after the haircut.

To be continued...
Okay...Here it is!
After:

I'm still getting used to it and I need to experiment with it still, but I love it! I will just need to paint my nails pink so people know I'm a girl. :0)

birthday crafts

I decided to make gifts for my sister and sister-in-law this year for their birthdays.  I made them both purses and then made my sister-in-law an owl plush because she is in love with owls. (They are really cute, I'd have to say so myself.)

It was my first time making both things and I had a lot of fun making them.  I'm exicted to make more purses and plushes in the future.

This is the bag I made for my sister, Kaycee.

This is the bag I made for my sister-in-law, Becky.

Here is the owl I made for Becky.  I was pleased with how it turned out.

I put a little heart on its bum.

Here is Travis being my model, showing how a person can enjoy this lovely owl plush.
